Q1. When will the Amarnath Yatra 2026 begin?

The official dates for the Amarnath Yatra 2026 will be announced by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB). Generally, the yatra starts in late June or early july (Tentatively 01 July 2026) and ends in 28th August 2026 on Raksha Bandhan.

You can register online through the Shri Amarnathji shrine board official SASB website or offline through designated bank branches (Yes Bank, ICICI Bank, Jammu and kashmir Bank, PNB Bank etc.) across India. A Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) done through Shrine board authorised doctors is required for registration.

For Amarnath Yatra registration, pilgrims need to submit a few essential documents. These includes

  • A duly filled registration form
  • A Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) issued by an authorized doctor or hospital.
  • A valid photo ID proof such as Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving License.
  • A recent passport-size photograph is also required for the Yatra permit.

Yes, SASB allows group registration for families, friends, and organizations has a more than 05 person in group, making it easier to travel together. To apply for the Yatra permit under Group Registration Facility, the Group Leader (one of the intending pilgrims of the group) shall have to send the following documents in respect of each member of the Group by registered post at the address indicated bellow.

There are two primary routes for Amarnath yatra:

  • Pahalgam Route (46 km): Traditional, Longer but scenic and gradual route, Easy to trek and good for senior citizens, children and ladies.
  • Baltal Route (14 km): Artificial, Shorter, steeper, and more challenging, good for trek challenging pilgrims .

Yes, helicopter services are available from Pahalgam to Panjtarni helipad and Baltal/Neelgrath to Panchtarni helipad, providing an easy option for darshan. Pilgrims can book helicopter tickets through Shri Amarnathji shrine board official helicopter booking portal.

Only devotees between the ages of 13 and 70 years with valid health certificates are allowed. Children below 13 years, elderly above 70, and pregnant women (more than 6 weeks) are not permitted.

  • Warm clothing, woolens, and raincoats. Sturdy trekking shoes.
  • Please keep your clothes and eatables in a suitable water proof bag to avoid your belongings getting wet.

  • Women Yatris should avoid wearing Saree during trekking and should wear Salwar Kameez, Pant-Shirt, Track suit or any recommended clothing suited for trekking on high altitude.

Mobile connectivity is limited and works only at certain points. BSNL and Jio networks usually have better coverage in the yatra region.
