🔱Do’s:

Before beginning your sacred journey to Shri Amarnathji Shrine, it is essential to prepare your body to endure the high-altitude conditions. Here are some important health and fitness guidelines every pilgrim should follow:

  • Build Physical Stamina:
Begin your fitness routine at least one month before the Yatra. Engage in a morning or evening walk of 4–5 km daily to strengthen your legs and improve endurance for the mountain trek.
  • Practice Yoga and Breathing Exercises:
Incorporate deep breathing exercises and Pranayama into your daily routine. These techniques help enhance your lung capacity and oxygen efficiency, making it easier to adapt to the thin mountain air.
  • Stay Hydrated:
Drink plenty of water—around 4 to 5 liters per day—to prevent dehydration, headaches, and fatigue. Hydration plays a key role in maintaining energy levels at higher altitudes.
  • Eat Nutritious and Energy-Rich Food:
Include a carbohydrate-rich diet such as rice, chapati, fruits, and energy bars. Carbohydrates help combat tiredness and reduce the risk of low blood sugar during long treks.
  • Respond Quickly to Altitude Sickness:
If you experience symptoms like dizziness, nausea, shortness of breath, or fatigue, descend immediately to a lower altitude. Early response can prevent serious health complications.
  • Seek Medical Help Promptly:
In case of high-altitude sickness or any health discomfort, contact the nearest medical aid center. Medical camps and assistance points are available at regular intervals of every 2 kilometers along the Yatra route.

🔱Dont’s

To ensure a safe and healthy pilgrimage, devotees must follow these important precautions during the Shri Amarnathji Yatra:

  • Avoid Alcohol, Caffeine, and Smoking:
Do not consume alcoholic or caffeinated beverages, and refrain from smoking during the Yatra. These substances can lead to dehydration, reduce oxygen levels in the body, and increase the risk of altitude sickness.
  • Be Cautious Around Sick Fellow Pilgrims:
If a fellow pilgrim feels unwell or shows signs of confusion or disorientation, do not rely solely on their judgment. At high altitudes, a person’s ability to think clearly can be affected. Always seek help from medical staff or volunteers immediately.
  • Never Ignore Signs of High-Altitude Illness:
Symptoms like headache, nausea, dizziness, or breathlessness should never be overlooked. These may indicate Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). If such symptoms appear, descend to a lower altitude and get medical assistance without delay.

Before beginning your sacred journey to the Holy Amarnath Cave, please ensure that you carefully follow the guidelines issued by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB). Adhering to these instructions will make your registration and pilgrimage smooth, safe, and hassle-free.

  • Obtain a Valid Medical Certificate:
The Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) must be issued only by an authorized doctor or hospital approved by the respective State Government. This ensures that you are medically fit to undertake the high-altitude pilgrimage.
  • Upload a Valid Photo:
While registering online, your photograph must be in .JPEG or .JPG format and should not exceed 1 MB in size. Ensure that the photo is clear and recent.
  • Scan and Upload Medical Certificate Properly:
The medical certificate should be scanned and uploaded in .PDF format only, and the file size must not exceed 1 MB during online registration. Incorrect formats may lead to rejection of the application.
  • Age Restrictions:
Pilgrims below 13 years of age and above 70 years are not permitted to participate in the Yatra due to health and safety concerns.
  • Pregnancy Restrictions:
Pregnant women who are more than 6 weeks into pregnancy are not allowed to undertake the Yatra, as it may pose serious health risks.
  • Carry Original Documents:
Always keep your original Photo ID Proof (such as Aadhaar Card, Passport, or Voter ID) and original Medical Certificate with you during the Yatra. These documents will be checked at various points along the route.

Following these important instructions before embarking on the Shri Amarnathji Yatra ensures a smooth registration process and a safe, blessed pilgrimage experience. Always refer to the official Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) website for the latest updates and requirements.
